June is my favourite month of the year. Not only does the sun shine (sometimes) and it’s my birthday (yes, I’m still going on about that), but the end of the month always means one thing: strawberries.
I’ve made it a family tradition to go strawberry picking every year and the place we always visit is Bentley Grange in Emley, near Huddersfield.
During the week they don’t close till 6pm, so the girls and I, plus a few friends dropped by after school. Despite the good weather, we virtually had the place to ourselves.
We started off with raspberries and gradually made our way to the strawberry fields (insert song here).
The kids got stuck in and filled their tubs in no time at all. When all the tubs were full we dragged ourselves away and went home…. and ate strawberries. Delicious!
Do you have any Pick Your Own farms where you are? If you do, get down there, quick! The strawberries won’t be around forever.
