Sunday was one of those days that as a family we will remember for a very long time. The Tour de France was passing through our town and so we decided that we would do our bit and cheer on a few of the riders.
The weather on Sunday was perfect. Due to road closures, church was postponed until the evening so after a long and lazy morning the four of us set off, flags in hand.
We figured our local cricket club would be the ideal place to watch the action and with views like these, who could argue?
There was a great family atmosphere and we even spotted a few of our friends along the route. We were thankful for our picnic blanket and camping stools (and the use of the cricket club toilets, I might add) as waited for the bikes to zoom past. Eventually, there was a flurry of activity with helicopters and police bikes and then the riders came.
Afterwards the crowds dispersed and we headed back down to the cricket club for drinks in the glorious English sunshine.
I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. I love Yorkshire!
