I’ve talked about my love for Yorkshire before. No, the climate isn’t perfect – winter coats are necessary right through till Easter – but there are reasons why it’s often referred to as, ‘God’s own county’.

Earlier this month me and a *clutch of other bloggers from the North West were invited to the very lovely Wentbridge House in Pontefract. A hotel, restaurant and brasserie all rolled into one, Wentbridge is a beautiful Georgian building set in gorgeous grounds.

After a presentation from Farrow and Ball, we were treated to a delicious lunch and then a tour by the very lovely Catherine, the hotel manager.

If I were getting married again or looking for a sneaky weekend away from the kids, then Wentbridge would be up for some serious consideration. I especially liked the folly where couples can get married outside if they wish (pictured). On a summers day like the one on our visit, that truly would make a wedding to remember.

An independently owned hotel, Wentbridge is full of personal touches. No interior designers were called in to design the rooms, it was all done by Catherine and her team, which means each room is slightly different from the other and are choc full of personal touches. Need a room for you and your dog? Sorted.

If you fancy paying Wentbridge a visit, then come along to their Yorkshire Day on Thursday August 1st, a charity event that celebrates everything that’s great about Yorkshire. If you want more information, then click here.

Bye for now

* I don’t know what the collective term is for bloggers, so I used this. I like it – makes us sound like a gathering of handbags.

Important: My lunch and tour of Wentbridge were complimentary, but all opinions are entirely my own.
